Devils Should Be Looking to Trade Nemec for Scoring Help
Simon Nemec is an RFA this offseason, but the New Jersey Devils may be best off trading him for scoring help rather than re-signing him.
This will be a summer of change for the New Jersey Devils.
Sunny Mehta is taking over as general manager, and Braden Birch recently joined as his AGM and right-hand man. They will not be running back the same roster next season.
Šimon Nemec is something of an enigma and could be one player affected by the changes. Sometimes, he shows flashes of being a second overall pick. Other times, he looks like a fish out of water.
Nemec will become a restricted free agent on July 1. You don’t want to give up on a 22-year-old defenseman second overall pick, but it might be time for the Devils to move on.
