Alex, do you seriously think Quinn Hughes’ production with the Wild is in any way indicative of how he would produce with this ineffective, impotent iteration of the Devils? Or that he could have been acquired for any less than two of Hischier, Bratt, Gritsyuk, Meier, Nemec or Mercer, plus draft picks?
Quinn is such a game breaker that he probably would have been fine here. If he turned into a pumpkin, then we would have had our answer on Keefe. As for the haul, Silayev, Mercer and Nemec was the rumored offer. Plus a pick. That wouldn’t have made the Devils any worse than they are
Appreciate the response! But if you just flip Nemec and Q, subtract Mercer and leave the rest of the inoffensive offense intact, I don’t see much likely improvement. And, you put an awful lot of cap space in a single player. But, in any event it didn’t happen and so we move on.
