Devils Reaping Rewards of 2020 Draft
A little more than 3 years to the date, the New Jersey Devils are now reaping the rewards of their 2020 draft class, specifically their first-round choices
The pandemic threw everyone's world upside down. One of those oddities, at least when it came to hockey, was the 2020 NHL Draft taking place virtually in October. That was an even more unique draft for the New Jersey Devils because they held three first-round picks in what was considered a strong class at the time.
The Devils had selected Jack Hughes first overall the previous year, so the 2020 draft was about drafting potential complementary pieces that could support him in the following years.
With those three draft choices, the Devils selected Alexander Holtz (7th overall), Dawson Mercer (18th overall), and Shakir Mukhamadullin (20th overall). How have they fared three years later? Let's take a look.
