Devils 2023-24 Season Preview
The New Jersey Devils have an exciting team but also increased expectations heading into the 2023-24 season
The New Jersey Devils kick off their 2023-24 season tomorrow with a home-ice tilt against the Detroit Red Wings. Unlike last October, expectations are sky-high for a Devils team that some are picking to win the Eastern Conference. Let's preview this year's Devils squad, which should likely be one of the most exciting in the NHL.
Devils Offense Will Lead the Way
The driving force behind this Devils team will be its offense. Led by Jack Hughes, who has the potential to become the franchise's first 100-point scorer, scoring goals should not be a problem. He's one of the best play drivers in the league but is also morphing into one of the best shooters.
As we've become accustomed to with head coach Lindy Ruff, Hughes' linemates will change throughout the season. But at least to start the new campaign, it appears Hughes will have Jesper Bratt and Tyler Toffoli as linemates.
Hughes and Bratt have always played well together, but they took their games to another level last season. The two logged just over 567 minutes together and posted a fantastic 63.58 expected goals percentage (xG%) and a +9 goal differential.
