Predicting Nico Hischier's Next Contract With the Devils
Pierre LeBrun reported that early talks with Nico Hischier on a contract extension are positive. What could his next deal look like?
One of the focal points of the New Jersey Devils’ offseason will be getting clarity on Nico Hischier’s contract status.
Hischier will be eligible for an extension on July 1, and while the Devils don’t need to sign him on July 1, they will want him under contract before the 2026-27 season begins.
Fortunately, early discussions between Hischier and new Devils GM Sunny Mehta are off to a good start.
Yesterday, Pierre LeBrun reported that initial conversations between Hischier’s agent, Alain Roy, and Mehta were positive and amicable.
LeBrun also said that all things being equal, an extension with the Devils is the most likely outcome. A new deal won’t be cheap, even if Hischier takes a team-friendly discount. What could his next contract with the Devils look like?
